The acquisition of 128 Illumina HiSeq(TM) 2000 Sequencing Systems has put Beijing Genomics Institute
(BGI) onto the path to become one of the world's biggest genome centers. With 500 bioinformaticians
and many cutting-edge software programs developed by BGI engineers, BGI is now truly the world
largest genome facility.
BGI is now looking for collaborators, to build a library of digital life, including 1000 plant and animal
reference genomes, 10000 microorganism genomes...
With $100M matching fund, BGI initiated 1,000 plant and animal reference genomes project and
calls for proposals.......The project aims to generate reference genomes for 1,000 economical
and scientific important plant/animal species in two years. Researchers who are interested in
